Isatis Gold is a combination of Western and Chinese herbs designed as an herbal antibiotic and anti-viral. Echinacea and goldenseal are used in combination to reduce swelling and treat inflammatory conditions of the upper respiratory tract. Isatis extract (da qing ye and ban lan gen) are widely studied and used in China as a broad-spectrum antibiotic and anti-viral agent. Platycodon (jie geng) is an anti-inflammatory herb that resolves phlegm, relieves cough, moistens the throat, and helps reduce pus. Platycodon (jie geng) and ligusticum (chuan xiong) direct the formula to the upper body. Ligusticum dispels wind and treats sinus congestion, sore throat, and headache.
Clinical Notes
1. For colds/flu without fever, combine with ginger tea
2. If patient has weak digestive system or is constitutionally sensitive reduce dosage and combine with Quiet Digestion
3. To prevent gum inflammation with bacterial causes
4. Consider for colds, flu, bronchitis, upper respiratory tract infections, encephalitis, mononucleosis, mumps, asthma, hepatitis A and B, herpes zoster, herpes simplex. Generally, this formula should not be used by itself for over 10 days for these problems
5. Increased effectiveness has been reported with an initial dose of 6 tablets
6. Do not use frequently or for prolonged periods
